Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who moved from the country to mainstream and then to be a global pop culture icon. Swift shed country like it was an additional layer and proved that she's perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. Someone who is able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal, and perform in the opposite. Her talents could be seen in her earliest tracks, notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her second album Fearless released in 2008 Swift was able to discover her true identity and gain audiences across the globe. Fearless was a huge success worldwide, not only in North America (where it was certified as platinum six times for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia and the U.K. as well as other nations. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago was a continuation of her earlier successes, propelling Swift into the spotlight. The singer's popularity increased throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift became a household name within the genre she was a part of. It was not long before she changed her strategy by releasing 2020's streamlined Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
