April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American, is among a select group of women who have won medals in several Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last chance to win the Olympic gold. Her confidence is high but she is not sure. Ross through NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well they can earn a gold. Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and her sister lived there. Ross played in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. However she was clearly superior to the rest in this latter game. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker, and setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. In 2000, she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since 2017, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches long before their pairing. As a matter of fact, Ross has won several major tournaments in her career together with two other partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. From 2007 until 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 while competing internationally. The duo would go through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). It was fate that had them. Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Following high school, and for a few several years prior to hitting the sand as a pro Ross balled out to the Trojans at USC while an collegiate. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. In 2000, as a freshman, her play earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. The Trojans could also get to the Final Four with her help. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season however she was able to return in the ranks of an All-American. Through her two final seasons with the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship each year. Ross was an excellent volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross studied International Relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see Ross' daughter blossom into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
