In 1997 she began her acting career when she was 13 years old. In 1997, Vandervoort made her debut on stage as an actor at age 13. After taking several courses and working as a background actor for Canadian series like Road to Avonlea or Harriet the Spy she was offered a speaking role on the Canadian children's horror collection Goosebumps. Alongside commercials, she also appeared in well as guest starring in films like Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. Goosebumps was also component of her acting career. Vandervoort made her feature film debut in 2006 on The Lookout. She starred in the film alongside Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also in the film. Vandervoort was cast in Smallville in a drama serial that airs on The CW. The role she plays was Clark Kent's Kryptonian "Kara Kent" she is the girl who is to become Supergirl. The season 7 episode was the first time she became a regular on the series. The episode she appeared on was "Bloodline" episode, which was the eighth season episode. 3. In the tenth season and final episode Smallville the actress returned to appear in two additional episodes.
